Henry Cobbe's £10k for 10k fundraiser for Southampton Hospitals Charity

Henry Cobbe is raising money for Southampton Hospitals Charity

10K for 10K Rowing Challenge · 4 June 2026

We work in partnership with University Hospital Southampton to fund projects beyond what NHS budgets can cover – improving care, experience, and outcomes for thousands of patients each year. From innovative equipment to pioneering research, our supporters make this progress possible.

Story

In 2023 I was in a tragic and heartbreaking road accident, where my darling youngest son Charles died at the scene. Together with my elder son, I was airlifted to Southampton ICU and then spent a month in F-ward before transferring to Salisbury hospital for a further month of recovery. My leg, knee, forearm, elbow, scapula and ribs were all broken. Whilst memories of my time in ICU are hazy, I recall their vigilant continuous care and owe them my life. I am indebted to the surgeons who put me back together again as best they could. And I will always remember the kindness, professionalism and care shown to me by so many different teams throughout the hospital - trauma, theatre, bloods, x-ray, physio, counselling, catering, and finally transport.

To make the anniversaries more manageable, I need to do something. So I want to raise money for the hospital charity that enables Southampton UHS provide those extra resources over and above NHS funding, to help them continue to go that extra mile for those who unfortunately come in need of their incredible support.

On Thursday 4th June 2026 from 10am to 11am, I am attempting to achieve a new post-surgery record time (sub 47m 32s) for a 10k erg at the entrance to Southampton Hospital. Followed by some sprint challenges with anyone who wants to have a go!

Do come by to find out more about the charity - or if you want to have a row!

Thank you for supporting this great hospital.
