Story

Dear Friends,

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving Page.

In April 2026, I’ll be attempting to run the London Marathon to raise money for Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF).

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), or Doctors Without Borders, is an independent international medical humanitarian organization that provides emergency aid to people whose survival is threatened by armed conflict, epidemics, natural or man-made disasters, and exclusion from healthcare. Operating in over 70 countries worldwide, including places such as the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, Yemen, Afghanistan, Palestine, Syria, Nigeria, and Haiti, MSF teams deliver a wide range of services including basic healthcare, surgery, vaccinations, nutrition support, and psychological care. All assistance is provided based solely on need, in accordance with the principles of impartiality, neutrality, and independence from political, economic, or religious powers,

The run is also personal to me as I'll be running in memory of my brother, James Davis-Goff, who tragically lost his life in April 2024 while on one of his own adventures in the Swiss Alps. James lived his life to the full, and was no stranger to a challenge, including climbing the Matterhorn in 2022 to raise funds for the Red Cross. In 2011 (aged 20) he also ran the London Marathon. He travelled and worked in the four corners of the globe, living in places like Zimbabwe, Iraq, and Indonesia. He completed bomb disposal and landmine clearance courses in Kosovo and built a refugee kitchen in Tripoli, Lebanon. He was in two countries during two coups. Among his many achievements and adventures around the globe, which he rarely spoke of, he devoted his life to helping people less fortunate than himself. His life continues to inspire how I live my life every day and I am grateful to have the opportunity to continue James’ legacy.

Those who know me, will understand that my sporting career didn't progress much further than childhood, where I was generally more comfortable running into people on a rugby pitch than running any sort of distance. James would have been bemused by my decision to run a marathon, and rightly so, but his spirit will be with me through every mile.

Any and all donations are hugely appreciated and will help to support Médecins Sans Frontières with their incredible work around the World.

Thank you.
