Story
I will be running the 2026 TCS London Marathon to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Society, the UK’s leading dementia charity and Park Place Retail’s company charity for the year. This cause is very personal to me following the loss of my grandmother to Alzheimer’s disease, and it is one that has also affected the families of many colleagues and friends.
One in three people born today will develop dementia in their lifetime, and around one million people in the UK are currently living with the condition, with Alzheimer’s accounting for the majority of cases. Alzheimer’s Society plays a vital role in addressing this challenge by providing specialist support services for people living with dementia and their families, campaigning for improved care and understanding, and funding groundbreaking research to transform diagnosis, treatment and prevention. On a personal level, research supported by the charity led to medication that significantly improved my grandmother’s symptoms and temporarily slowed the progression of the disease, helping her remain as comfortable and happy as possible in the final months of her life.
Funds raised through this event will directly support these vital services and research initiatives. Thank you for your support.
