Story
A ROW with/against Cancer
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have created this challenge to really push myself, inspire and never give up to support my Dad who has always pushed himself, inspired me, and never given up on himself, me, or others. He is quietly going about his chemotherapy for cancer and standing up to this heartbreaking disease. My Dad is an inspiration to me and I do not doubt that we are all close to someone who has had Cancer or had their lives changed by this terrible disease. My wife Sam's family has had numerous occasions where the C word has impacted them, so it is close to both of our hearts and Rowen's. This challenge is also about him and our future generations. Money raised will go into Cancer Research, as technology including AI advances daily surely we can one day win. The dream is cures or medication to reduce the impact, pain and suffering in the future.
There is no room for complacency with Cancer, so I have chosen a challenge with no room for complacency, no days off, no backing down no matter how busy I am. During June 2024, I will attempt to ROW 500'000 m (500km) which averages out at 16'667m (16.667km) every day. With a busy working life and a young boy, this means early gym sessions every day and around 90 minutes a day on the rowing machine and plenty of blisters :). I will be completing this challenge independently but would love for friends to collaborate with me. I will create a sign-up/booking form so contact me on social media or WhatsApp +971585923080 . If you are keen to commit and support me and my Dad or with your own inspiration (anyone impacted by Cancer) then please reach out. All I need is a date and commitment to row 16'667m on that day or run 13'334m (based on the recommended 5:4 Row:Run equivalency ratio). If you commit then you are representing against Cancer with me on that day so please get involved but don't back down :) Friends can offer 1 or 2 occasions when they can hit the target so all days in June are represented. This will take the collaborative total past 1'000'000m for June. All collaborators should wear at least a splash of pink and take a picture after your achievement. Adding your involvement adds to the inspiration.
Thanks so much for reading. So whether you can support financially, actively or both. We can tackle this together and get in a ROW (or run) against Cancer for a brighter future.
