In December, I will be taking on a challenge to raise awareness and money for CALM, a suicide prevention charity. In March of this year one of my closest and oldest friend, Matt Liddle took his own life. I felt very numb at the time, and it was a massive wake up call for myself and others that things like this happen and can happen to anyone. In the past, I’ve been guilty of overlooking mental health and the stigma surrounding it, something I believe is all too common among people of my age and gender. This mindset needs to change.

For everyone that knew Matt knows what a seriously class bloke he was- Hilarious, annoyingly smart, driven, a brilliant piss taker! but at the same time incredibly empathetic and warm. Matts passing has affected me massively and the way I have dealt with it has been running so therefore I will be running the “Great Ocean Road” in Australia twice in 21 days. Out and back, starting in Torquay running out to Allansford and then back to Torquay. A total of 504km. Thank you for any donations and please share.

CALM is a suicide prevention charity. They’ve got loads of tools and resources to help people find the support they need, including a life-saving helpline for people who can’t see a way forward, have lost someone to suicide, or are worried about their friends or loved ones.
