Story
I recently opened my art gallery and workshop in Sneinton Market, a few weeks into running the space, two homeless lads came in. We had a lovely chat and as they were leaving they asked if I could make a painting of them sat on the bench outside.
I put a picture of the painting on social media in the hopes that I could auction it off and split the money between the two lads or donate it. There was such a good response to the original post, and so many people interested in making a donation!
Then somebody suggested a raffle for charity, and here we are! The painting, alongside some of my other works will be the raffle prizes, and I'll be drawing the raffle on Saturday 23rd December.
A donation of £5 or more will get you a raffle ticket. To be entered into the raffle, please tick the box that says you are happy to share your contact details (email) with me at checkout.
The money raised here will go to Emmanuel House, a local charity that supports people affected by homelessness.
Some information about Emmanuel House: "Emmanuel House supports people who are homeless, rough sleeping, have No Recourse to Public Funds, or are at risk of homelessness in Nottingham.
We have been operating from our day centre since 1976, meeting people’s basic human needs, providing showers, food and clothing and providing support surrounding housing, benefits and mental and physical health. Alongside this, our Outreach Team provides tenancy and mental health support. Our Winter Shelter is open October - April and provides short-term emergency accommodation."
