Story
As many of you know, my mum was diagnosed with bowel cancer at the start of this year. Before passing away in May, she spent her final weeks at Priscilla Bacon Lodge, where the nurses and volunteers took care of her amazingly.
My mum always spoke about how pleased she was to be given a bed there. She couldn't get over how lovely the place was and how kind the staff were. They gave her personalised care, asking what matters to her, such as gaining mobility. They gave their all to make sure my mum was receiving the help that she felt she needed.
The compassion that was also shown to friends and family made such a difference, and I will always be grateful for everything they do. Something I will not forget is when we celebrated my 22nd birthday in the hospice, and although it was quite different to other years, the staff came together to help make the day incredibly special.
The Priscilla Bacon Hospice Charity enhances the core services provided by the NHS, at the Lodge and in the community, ensuring the best possible care before, at the point of, and after death.
To give back, me and our close friend Lucy have signed up to do the Inflatable 5K in October. It’ll be a right laugh and we’ll find out if my knees can handle such things! We need to raise at least £125 each so I would be so thankful for any help we can receive.
If you are able to donate, you will help Priscilla Bacon Lodge continue to care for patients and their loved ones. This support will allow them to provide specialist equipment, bereavement services, complimentary therapies, and much more!
Thank you for taking the time to read this,
Hermione x
