This Christmas, we're supporting Marmalade Trust, the incredible UK charity behind Loneliness Awareness Week and a lifeline for people experiencing chronic loneliness.

With outreach right here in Hertfordshire, Marmalade Trust supports single people and those isolated in our communities through a powerful 15-week connections programme.

For many, this simple human connection stops them from spiralling further into loneliness and becomes the first step back into community and confidence.

Why this matters

Loneliness isn’t just “feeling a bit on your own.” It’s a growing crisis. Did you know that...

- 85% of UK adults experienced loneliness in the last year.

- 44% felt chronically lonely.

- 500,000 older people go five to six days a week without seeing or speaking to anyone!

And shockingly, 3.9 million older people say television is their main company.

We can change that, one act of kindness, one conversation, one connection at a time.

This is personal for me. Having struggled with loneliness myself, and knowing how isolating it can be (especially around Christmas), I’m passionate about creating moments that bring people together. That’s what Be Dating Beautiful was founded on and it’s why supporting Marmalade Trust feels so close to my heart.

Distance: Walk or run 6km, your own pace (no one gets left behind!)

After: We’ll warm up in the pub with tea, coffee and mince pies because… it's Christmas! 🎄✨

What’s Be Dating Beautiful?

We’re a friendly, growing singles community in Hertfordshire. Created only six months ago, Be Dating Beautiful now runs:

- A free weekly run club, every Monday at 6:30pm, starting from Hitchin Market Square.

- Monthly singles meet-ups, always built around an activity so conversations feel organic, not forced.

- A warm, welcoming community that has truly bonded.
