Georgie's fundraiser for Alzheimer's Society

Georgie Newton is raising money for Alzheimer's Society

Richmond RunFest 10K 2026 · 12 September 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

“Take care of all your memories. For you cannot relive them.“ - Bob Dylan

Many believe that Alzheimer’s affects only the old, but the truth is my family’s struggle with diagnoses of early onset Alzheimer’s and Logopenic Aphasia (a rare neurodegenerative dementia) have made me realise that this is a disease that can affect anyone, at any age. Donations to Alzheimer’s society help to find a cure and to support those affected by the disease. Forgetting is scary so help us remember.

Our goal with running this 10k is to raise money for a cause that means a lot to me. Having not run in years, I set myself this challenge to raise money for a charity which works to help and improve the lives of those affected by Alzheimer’s. Any donations big or small are helpful in the fight against Alzheimer’s and we are grateful for any support given!
