At least 21 people with epilepsy in the UK die each week. SUDEP Action, is the only UK charity dedicated to supporting those bereaved by epilepsy, raising awareness of epilepsy risks and tackling deaths in people with epilepsy, including Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP).

Story

On September 18th 2020, our dear Izzy unexpectedly lost her life to SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy) at 23 years old.

Izzy was truly such a special and one of a kind girl with so much life and many dreams ahead of her. Izzy lived every day to the fullest so in her honour and to commemorate the 5 year anniversary of her passing, we will be climbing Mount Snowdon on Saturday 20th of September 2025 to raise money for SUDEP Action.

SUDEP is very rare, affecting around 1 in every 1,000 adults with epilepsy each year. No one knows the exact cause and there may be no single explanation. Although most people with epilepsy live long and healthy lives, epilepsy is one of the top-ten causes of early death. At SUDEP Action, they focus their efforts on providing tools to help keep people safe and on the priorities that bereaved families tell are important: To prevent deaths; To be supported; To be involved.
