Benny’s Fight – 1,393 Miles to Rome

Benny is a happy and caring four-year-old. In March 2025 he completed treatment for stage 4 high-risk neuroblastoma. Heartbreakingly, he has since relapsed.

Benny’s family are now fundraising in the hope that they can travel to Rome so Benny can receive CAR T-cell therapy – a treatment that isn’t currently available to him here.

In solidarity with Benny and his family, I’m setting myself a challenge:

👉 I will cover 1,393 miles, the distance from High Shincliffe to Rome, by cycling, running or walking.

The plan is to complete the final miles on 29/03/2026 by running a 50km ultra marathon around Durham City.

To hit that target, I need to average 12.2 miles every day for the next 114 days 😬.

I’ll be sharing regular updates and map progress as I “move” from High Shincliffe to Rome mile by mile.
