Story

We are a group of ordinary people with extraordinary ambition, who've decided to set themselves a challenge to climb the 3 peaks in the UK starting with Mount Snowdon, which is only the highest mountain in Wales!

We’re aiming to climb all 3 peaks in the UK a mountain at a time. So we are geared up and ready for the 1st challenge of hiking Mount Snowdon on the 5th of April 2024, with the aim to complete the other 2 within the year.

As exciting as hiking may sound, we still need your help. We are asking for your help to reach our fundraising goal of £1000 which will all go towards the Mission Mere Marie orphanage in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Why have we decided to do this?

Apart from health and fitness reasons (and ticking off bucket lists) we are very passionate about fundraising for worthy causes to raise as much funds as possible to feed orphans in the Democratic of Congo in Africa.

The Democratic Republic of Congo also known as DRC is a country in Central Africa. It is the second-largest country in Africa, with a population of around 104 million and classed as one of the least developed countries in the world by the UN

Since the 1990's, long-standing civil conflict has devastated the DRC killing millions of people. 47% of these deaths were children under the age of five. The prevalence of rape and violence has been described as the worst in the world.

The DRC is home to roughly 800,000 orphans and disadvantaged children, many of whom are being forced to join rebel groups and participate in the violent conflicts. Many others are left to their own devices, with no parents or family to protect and provide for them, some become street children, beggars, and many increasingly fall into the wrong crowds and get into crimes. The future prospects for these children are slim to none, if not for the orphanages, charities and help from benevolent people in the DRC and around the world who help to take care of disadvantaged children who deserve a happy life.

As we are not on ground in DRC, we have scoured around for charities we can collaborate with who carry the same burden to help orphans as we have and found a perfect match with Revive Congo. They do an amazing job in providing support to orphans in the DRC from paying for their school fees to providing them with basic needs.

What will £1000 help to do?

It will feed all the 50+ orphans at Mission Mere Marie for a month and provide them with much needed mattresses.

If we are able to surpass our target, the money will go towards school supplies, sanitary products and any other basic needs.

Apart from our own donations, our sacrifice is to spend numerous hours climbing up and down Wales' largest mountain, this is the first part of our 3 peaks challenge, conquering mountain after mountain, a step at a time to bring smiles to many orphans faces

We will be sure to post updates and progress made. Thank you in advance for your donations, we greatly appreciate it
