Hiking The Great Glen Way (80 miles)

At Touchbase disabled people are celebrated, not merely tolerated. Our growing community of adults with Physical / learning disabilities and Neuro-diverse conditions come together to improve their wellbeing and skills by participating in a dynamic program of creative and therapeutic activities.

Story

WHO ARE TOUCHBASE CARE?

Touchbase Care is a disability support charity in the heart of Folkestone. Our vibrant community of adults with physical disability, learning disability, neuro-diverse conditions and sensory impairment are supported to lead fulfilled lives. Learning new skills, expressing themselves creatively and accessing the outdoors.

WHO IS JIM?

I work at Touchbase Care and have seen first-hand the difference Touchbase Care makes in people's lives. I've been inspired by the creativity, boldness and diversity amongst the Touchbase community. I've also seen how for many members at Touchbase Care, many activities I take for granted are not accessible without additional support: e.g. going out walking in the countryside.

That's why I am doing this challenge, I want to raise money so that Touchbase Care can do more good, offering more opportunities for disabled people.

WHAT IS THE GREAT GLEN WAY?

The Great Glen Way is one of Scotland's Great Walks, its an 80 mile route from Fort William (at the foot of Ben Nevis) to Inverness (at the tip of Loch Ness). Along the way I'll be hiking the length of the mighty Caledonian Canal, and three lochs. The route should take five days to complete, wild camping along the way.

GET INVOLVED & STAY UP TO DATE...

I'm looking for supporters that can sponsor me anything they can. I also need help to get the word out. So please share online and help me let people know about this great cause.

I'll be posting regular updates in the run up and during the hike on my instagram page - @jimlockeyartist. Some amazing companies have donated equipment to support the trip that I'll be showing off there too.
