Story
Hiking in Yorkshire is just like life.
Some days the path is smooth and the views are spectacular. On other days the climb is steep, the weather changes without warning, and every step takes determination. Whatever the conditions, one thing always makes the journey easier – knowing you have somewhere safe to return to at the end of it.
For thousands of people across the UK, that certainty doesn't exist.
On 25th September I will be taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge – a demanding 24-mile trek, climbing Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, with over 5,000 feet of ascent, all within 12 hours. It will be the toughest challenge I have ever attempted.
I'm doing it to support Shelter, Foresters Friendly Society's chosen charity for 2026/27.
Every year, Shelter helps millions of people facing homelessness or unsafe housing by providing expert advice, practical support, legal services and campaigning for lasting change. They believe everyone deserves the security, dignity and hope that comes with having a safe place to call home.
As I tackle each mile, I'll be reminded that while I have the privilege of choosing this challenge, many people face far tougher journeys every day through no fault of their own.
Every donation, however large or small, will help Shelter continue its vital work so that more people can find safety, security and a place to call home.
Thank you for supporting me and helping make every step count.
