Story
Every year, approximately 100,000 people will have a stroke in the UK, and shockingly, 25% of those are under 65. Stroke is the single biggest cause of disability, leaving many individuals and families in desperate need of support.
Different Strokes provides vital active peer support through information, advice, and rehabilitation services. The London North group goes above and beyond by offering access to rehabilitation, psychological, and emotional support that extends far beyond the limited period provided by the NHS after a stroke.
However, we face a critical challenge: we do not receive funding from the NHS or local authorities. We rely solely on the generosity of donors to continue our essential work. Your support can help individuals fulfill their potential, improve their confidence in living well despite disability, and ultimately prevent further strokes.
Members of the London North group are participating in the "March On For Stroke 2026" challenge throughout March 2026, to raise funds so that we can continue our exercise, psychological and social activities. Our target is to raise £6,000 this year to ensure that we can continue providing this crucial support.to working age people.
Please join me in making a difference—your contribution can change lives! Thank you for your generosity!
