Story

Homelessness makes me rage, always has done. It was one of the first issues that anger motivated me to try to combat (in a pathetically small way) as a student, when I was a volunteer on a poorly-named soup run (should have been called a cigarette and conversation run).

It makes me furious because we're a rich country, and we have enough inside space for no-one to be without a roof. But more than that - and Alex articulated this better than I've managed to date - it's because we *allow* it to happen.

Many of us are just a couple of bits of bad luck away from financial insecurity; many more don't have the resources to weather one. Many people who lose their home don't have experience of navigating the (wildly inadequate) systems supposed to help.

Now imagine being 17 and in that situation. With little or no warning you find yourself with nowhere to sleep tonight. You've no income, no transport, you've got the clothes you stand up in, and your phone is paid for by someone who's not even letting you pick up your charger or some overnight things. No-one's equipped for that. And this is where Roundabout comes in.

Roundabout is South Yorkshire's youth homeless charity. Every day, they provide shelter and support to over 370 young people in South Yorkshire who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

Your support will go a long way to changing the lives of some of the most vulnerable young people in South Yorkshire. Their work is a lifeline for many and supports the young people we work with to prepare for a better future.

If you can help with a donation, a very big thank you. And if you't can't just now, that's always fine, but if you're able to share this with anyone you think can, that would also be great.

Oh - and why £310? Well, 31 days in January, £10 per day, seems a reasonable target.
