Conwy Freewheelers hold monthly sessions within Eirias Park on a Sunday afternoon. Two hours of freedom, fun and inclusive sport with a wide range of adapted cycles and handcycles which can attract different impairment groups. Fundraisers and off track outings also encourage a team spirit

Story

Hello everyone, and thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

This July, I'm taking on my most ambitious challenge yet: to summit Mount Kilimanjaro, the roof of Africa.

This journey to 5,895 metres will be the toughest physical and mental test I've ever faced, and I wanted to use this once-in-a-lifetime event to raise funds for two causes that do incredible work.

For this challenge, I'm proud to be supporting both The Christie Charity and Conwy Freewheelers.

This page is dedicated to raising funds for Conwy Freewheelers, an amazing local adapted cycling club that was started by my friend, Ben, with the help of the council. What began as a brilliant idea has now blossomed into a vital community service, now run completely by a dedicated team of volunteers.

Conwy Freewheelers is all about offering freedom, fun, and a sense of community to adults and children with diverse abilities. They hold regular sessions that bring together participants, their families, and carers, creating a wonderful, supportive atmosphere for everyone involved.

With a fleet of over 30 adapted bikes – including trikes, hand cycles, companion bikes, and tandems – they ensure that there is a bike to suit any need. This means that no one is left on the sidelines. For their 50+ members, the club is more than just cycling; it's about building confidence, making friends, and experiencing the simple joy of movement. It will make a big difference in providing resources to enable people with all ability levels to enjoy and get the benefit of cycling. The club offers opportunities for people with physical, sensory and intellectual impairments to enjoy cycling.

The entire club is powered by volunteers. Every single person gives their time for free because they believe in the power of inclusive sport.

I am also supporting Conwy Freewheelers, a brilliant adapted cycling club started by my friend, Ben, with local council support. Now it's run entirely by volunteers and offers freedom and fun to adults and children with diverse abilities. (If you would prefer to donate to this cause, you can do so on my other fundraising page here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/himanshu-hikes-kili-christie).

As I take on the steep slopes of Kilimanjaro, I'll be encouraged by the thought of the incredible resilience and spirit of the Conwy Freewheelers members. Every pound raised will go directly to supporting this fantastic charity. Your donation will help them to:

Maintain their fleet of specialised bikes.

Purchase new equipment to meet growing demand.

Fund venue hire for their sessions.

Ensure the club can continue offering these life-changing opportunities for free.

I've set a target of £1000, and I would be so grateful for any support you can offer. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a real difference and will motivate me on every step of my journey to the summit.

Thank you for your incredible generosity.

I will post updates from the trek when I am enroute...

Himanshu
