The HWS Year 8 Rentstart SleepOut is coming!
Thursday 16th October
Could you spend a night sleeping outside with nothing more than some boxes as a shelter?
On the 16th October pupil volunteers in Year 8 will have the opportunity to sleep outside in cardboard boxes to raise money for Rentstart as part of our work to show our support for those facing and experiencing homelessness.
Why are we doing this?
Homelessness is a growing problem in our local community – last year Rentstart helped to house over 100 local people who were facing or experiencing homelessness. They also supported and advised over 700 local people in a place where homelessness was real or about to become real for them.
Sleeping in a cardboard box is not the nicest way to spend a night…it’s not meant to be. There are far too many people locally and nationally who are street homeless because they have no choice. Pupils who choose to give up one night to ‘sleep rough’, will help us to continue to support local people facing and experiencing homelessness, and in a small way experience a night spent on the street.
