Each week at least twelve young people in the UK die suddenly as a result of undiagnosed heart conditions. At Cardiac Risk In the Young we aim to save young lives & to help those affected by young sudden cardiac death (YSCD). We do this by providing support, information & screening those affected.

Story

We are raising money for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) in memory of James Ferguson (Ferg).

Ferg was a much-loved member of the hockey family. He played for Spencer HC and Guildford HC, and also spent many happy years at university playing hockey for Exeter University. Wherever he played, Ferg made an impression — not just as a talented and committed player, but as a genuinely great person, teammate and friend both on and off the pitch.

This special match between Spencer HC and Guildford HC is a chance for those who knew and loved Ferg to come together, share memories, celebrate his life and remember the joy and friendship he brought to so many people through hockey.

The game will take place on 12th September at 5:30pm at Spencer Hockey Club. There will be a presentation and minutes applause for Ferg pre-game followed by drinks in the bar afterwards.

Spencer HC address: Fieldview, Earlsfield, London, SW18 3HF.

CRY works to reduce the incidence of young sudden cardiac death through awareness, screening, research and support for affected families. The loss of Ferg is a devastating reminder that sudden cardiac death can happen without warning, and we want to turn our sadness into something positive by supporting CRY's vital work.

By raising money for CRY, we hope to help the charity continue its work to prevent young sudden cardiac deaths and support those affected by them

Every donation, no matter how small, will help support CRY and its mission. Please donate and help us honour James's memory by helping CRY save lives.
