Hollie's fundraiser for The Elm Foundation

Hollie O'Connor is raising money for The Elm Foundation

Derby Half Marathon · 28 June 2026

Previously known as 'Derbyshire Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse Service' and 'North Derbyshire's Women's Aid'. Established in 1985, when we opened our first refuge, The Elm Foundation (reg. charity no 1007317) works across North Derbyshire to end Domestic Abuse and support men, women and children who have experienced it. We believe everyone has the right to live their life free from fear, violence and abuse.

Story

Deep breath. Here goes….

I’m running the Derby half marathon on 28th June this year in support of The Elm Foundation, an incredible charity that supports people overcoming domestic abuse in all its forms.

Domestic abuse is not just physical. It can be control, fear, threats, financial control, manipulation and loss of identity. The Elm Foundation works tirelessly to help people rebuild their lives, find safety and regain their strength.

I am running to raise money for this amazing charity and to stand in solidarity with every person who has experienced abuse.

After a difficult Christmas, I decided to set myself a goal of running a half marathon, to give myself something to focus on and to raise money for an incredible charity along the way. So I guess I’ve now got to hold myself to account and actually do it?

A big shout out to my amazing friends & family for their continued support, you know who you are - I could not do any of this without you. And also to queens Kate Nash & Lily Allen for keeping me company along the way 🎵.

Every donation, no matter how small, helps The Elm Foundation to continue their vital work and gives hope to people when they need it most.

Thank you for supporting this cause and supporting me on this journey.
