Story
Hi I’m Hollie
Me and my fiancé Dave will be doing a skydive from 13000 feet in Cancun Mexico to raise money for Second Chance, part of the Headway charity.
Second chance is a local charity in Wakefield; they are part of the headway charity that supports adults who have suffered a brain injury.
This charity is special to me as they supported me during my brain injury over the past couple of years. It was such a difficult and traumatic time in my life, and they were able to support me mentally.
In 2023 I suffered an unexpected brain haemorrhage (bleed on my brain). It came completely out of the blue, it all started with an intense headache. I then lost a third of my sight, become very fatigued and still have difficulty reading. This had me hospitalised for a few days, in this time I was told I was lucky because I was very close to having a stroke. 3 months later when they blood had cleared and I was starting to regain my vision more tests were done, revealing I had an AVM that ruptured. I underwent a craniotomy (brain surgery) to remove it. I’m now left with side effects that will impact me the rest of my life like struggles reading.
You never expect this to happen to yourself and you certainly don’t expect the effects to be lifelong. Learning to adapt to my new way of life has been harder than expected.
I am wanting to raise some money so I can give something back to them so they can continue to help and support other people going through similar things to myself.
Any donations are massively appreciated
Thank you all!!
