Story

This is a charity that many people is some way have a connection too and reason to support as it touches so many but for us, for us it’s Holly's grandma & grandad Alwin and Joan and Mel’s father in law Terry & sister in law Emily,

Holly unfortunately lost her grandad in 2022 but her grandma currently has bowel cancer and although she is doing amazing, she does have to live with this horrible disease day to day! She is one tough cookie and continues to try and live a good quality life. She truly is an inspiration to her family, I will be carrying her strong willed nature to get through this challenge whilst holding my grandads spirit in my heart.

Mel’s reason is her sister in law Emily, As a young, fit, and healthy mum, and at just 26 years old, you don’t expect to be diagnosed with cancer. But for my sister-in-law Emily and many others across the UK, lymphoma—a type of blood cancer that develops when white blood cells called lymphocytes grow out of control—has become a stark reality. Lymphoma is the fifth most common type of cancer in the UK and is particularly common in younger people and those over 60.

For Emily, persistent itching was one of the first signs that something wasn’t right, but it took several visits to the doctor before she was finally listened to and received a diagnosis. Thanks to advancements in cancer research and treatment, Emily is now able to carry on living her life and cherish the moments of watching her little boy grow up.

Cancer affects someone in everyone's life, Mel's father in law Terry also had to battle bladder cancer, Thanks to the research these charities do, there was a new trial available for him to try, giving him the chance to beat and continues to beat this disease!!
