Story

Imagine a child born with congenital CMV—a virus that can cause hearing loss, developmental delays, and other lifelong challenges. Now imagine the toll it takes on the entire family: parents who face endless doctor’s visits, siblings who may struggle to understand the changes in their brother or sister, and extended family members who want to help but don’t always know how.

This is the reality for many families living with cCMV. But there is hope—and you can help. By fundraising for CMV Awareness Month and stepping out for CMV Action, you are directly supporting families who need critical resources, education, and support. The funds raised will help raise awareness about CMV and help CMV Action grow and expand our support services, ensuring that more people understand the risks and that future families don’t have to face this challenge alone.

Our Wren has faced the challenges of CMV

•364 doses (give or take)of Valganciclovir this kid has taken like a trooper !

6 months of medication twice a day, some days more then a normal dose because of sickness!

It’s not something we often talk about, But

We lost our baby bubble very early with our precious girl when she failed her hearing test, to find out she had CCMV.

Congenital Cytomegalovirus is a virus that will lay dormant in her forever ( it most probably does in you too!).

cmv can cause much worse outcomes & we are very lucky only Wrens hearing was affected in one ear, & she was put on medication soon after birth, helping to fight the infection so her hearing was not affected in her other ear !

we’d never heard of cmv so we were in shock, all our baby groups, all our milestones, all our stories, the other 2s free time, was all spent in hospital, it was replaced with bus journeys to blood tests & hearing tests & appointments!!

We’ve had 6 months of endless hospital trips, hearing tests, blood tests, consultant appointments, video calls.

But after 6 months Wren finally finishes the medication, due her last London hospital appointment soon when we find out more !

We’ve had slow growth, slower milestones on occasion but Only time will tell on how else wrens been affected.

Onwards and upwards for our Roo, hearing tests continue, but touch wood daily medication and non stop bloods can stop ✨🫶🏻

We thank everyone around us, family, friends, even the school and preschool for the endless support, the babysitting, the helping with travel, & the emotional support, we love you all x

I personally do not believe CMV is spoken about enough, we’ve used Cmvaction.org.Uk so so much & now we’d like to try give back, from trying to raise money to even just raising awareness!!!

thank you ! From the bottom of our hearts x
