Story
A lot of you will already know that I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in September 2022 and went through lumpectomy surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy amongst various other procedures over the course of the 8 months which followed my diagnosis.
I am now cancer free and part of my new found lease of life meant joining a beginners running club as someone who had never contemplated running in her whole life. I never dreamed I would be able to get any level of fitness back after cancer treatment left me completely exhausted and I struggled to walk very far, let alone run.
Over the last few months I have been building up my running journey and now frequently run 5k with friends and also take part in Park Runs. One of my goals for 2024 was to be able to run 10k and this challenge seemed like the perfect combination of achieving my goals and raising money for such a worthy cause.
Prevent Breast Cancer is the only UK charity funding ground-breaking research solely aimed at preventing breast cancer for future generations. Their research will one day bring about a world where Breast Cancer is preventable and thousands are saved from ever experiencing this terrible disease.
