Story
I’m running the 2026 London Marathon to raise money for Outward, a charity that supports adults with learning disabilities, those on the autism spectrum, older individuals, and young people at risk to live independently. In practice day-to-day, this means supporting people with employment and volunteering opportunities, helping people manage their finances, tenancies, health and wellbeing and socialising and meeting new people. Sometimes, the support sessions simply involve offering a listening ear and having a chat. This one to one support is often carried out in people's homes or in the community.
Having worked in the Waltham Forest Outreach team at Outward, I know that the funds raised will have a direct impact on the people the charity supports. Specifically, these funds will go towards renting a new venue for the Outreach team to host afternoon drop-in sessions, as well as art and music groups, after the previous venue closes in May due to increased rent. This facility is vital for the people that Outward works with, as it provides a space for them to come together, connect and feel part of a vibrant, supportive community.
For the people Outward supports, it’s more than just a service—it’s a lifeline, an essential support system, and an invaluable social network. Your donation will be very much appreciated!
Thank you!
