Great Manchester Run 2024 · 26 May 2024 ·

Over 1.5 million in the UK have endometriosis and the impact of the disease is for some devastating, yet diagnosis takes on average 8 years. With your donations we are turning this around, raising awareness, providing support and information, supporting research, and campaigning for change.

Story

In May 2023, I lost my lifelong best friend, twin and soulmate, Holly May Mullan.

This May, as hard as the month is going to be, I’ve decided to try to channel some of my pain into doing something for Hol.

I’m going to be running my first Half Marathon (The Great Manchester Run) in the hope to raise some money for Endometriosis UK.

Hol was part of all of the below percentages and spent years feeling ignored:

- Almost half of all respondents (47%) had visited their GP 10 or more times with symptoms prior to receiving a diagnosis, and 70% had visited 5 times or more.

- Only 10% of respondents reported that GPs mentioned they suspected endometriosis at either their first or second appointment where symptoms were discussed.

- 26% of respondents visited A&E 3 or more times with symptoms prior to diagnosis.

- 20% reported seeing a gynaecologist 10 or more times before being diagnosed.

Unfortunately, Hol wasn’t here to receive her Endometriosis diagnosis but any money raised will be donated to Endometriosis UK to help other women in pain.

Thanks,

Hollie x
