Edinburgh Marathon 2025 Ā· 25 May 2025 Ā·

Sepsis accounts for 48,000 deaths annually in the UK, that’s more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer put together. Sepsis is what happens when our immune system overreacts to an infection. Symptoms initially present as flu like but can rapidly deteriorate into a life threatening condition.

Story

As 2024 comes to an end, it has really been the most challenging year for me and my family.

On the 16th of May 2024, our lives completely turned upside down. Our lovely mum was rushed into hospital and within 48hrs, sadly passed away. As some of you may already know, I didn’t get the chance to say goodbye to Mum as I couldn’t get back quick enough from Asia, which has left a massive hole in my heart.

People deal with grief in many different ways, but I have managed mine by running, so on the 25th of May 2025, I will be running the Edinburgh Marathon to raise money for the UK Sepsis trust.

We never ever thought we would lose our mum to this serious condition, but hopefully, by raising money for this charity, we will aim to end preventable deaths and improve outcomes for sepsis survivors, striving to raise public awareness and working to support anyone affected by this devastating condition.
