Story
I will be completing The Big Sleep Out Challenge alongside my close friend Natalie who works as an outreach support worker for CHESS. This is to raise vital funds and awareness for those affected by homelessness across Essex.
I struggle with an autoimmune disease, so this will be an even tougher challenge for me than it was last year. Spending the night outside will push me physically and mentally, but I know that one night on the streets is not comparable to what so many people are forced to face every single day. No one should have to face vulnerability, cold, and uncertainty as a daily reality. The challenge provides a small insight into the harsh and unpredictable conditions many people cope with and is a powerful way to raise awareness of how scary and exposed life on the streets can be.
CHESS provides essential support and pathways to independence for homeless adults. Their outreach team works directly with rough sleepers, supplying essential items and building relationships to help resolve their current situations and guide them towards stability and a regular life and opportunities that everyone deserves
This challenge is about raising funds, awareness, and showing solidarity with those who need it most.
Any support, donations, or shares would mean the world 🤍
