Story
We’re here for any family confronted with the news their child has a life-shortening condition, however, wherever and whenever they need us. By providing superb nursing care, hydrotherapy, creative therapy, days out, memory making, end of life care, bereavement support and counselling, Forget Me Not helps families make the most of every moment they have together.
I’m writing on behalf of Holmfirth Charity Tractors to share details of our upcoming fundraising journey and to explore the possibility of your support.
This year, our team includes a fantastic group of local farmers and supporters:
- Wayne Armitage, will be joined by his son Alfie (aged 11), our apprentice tractor driver. They farm in Flockton, and Wayne will be driving a 1987 Mercedes MB Trac 1000.
- Martyn and Andrew Pinder from Fulstone: Martyn will be driving a 1968 DB 990, while Andrew will be in his 1986 International 885 XL.
- Philip Addy, a third-generation farmer from Marsh Farm, Shepley, will be driving his 1982 DB 1390, alongside Adam Knight, who assists on the farm and will be driving a 1987 Case DB 1394.
- David and Lorraine Osborn from Greengates Farm, Holmfirth: David will be driving a 1969 DB 780, and Lorraine our only lady driver will be driving her 1958 MF FE35.
Our journey begins on 27th June, setting off from the David Brown Tractor Museum in Meltham Mills. We will travel to the ferry port at Birkenhead and sail on 28th June to Belfast. From there, we’ll drive up the east coast to the Giant’s Causeway, camping along the route.
On our return journey, we will visit several key attractions including the Titanic Experience, Ulster Transport Museum, and the Folk Museum, before heading back to Holmfirth, arriving on 6th July. We’re confident the convoy will attract plenty of attention along the way!
This year, we are raising funds for the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, a cause very close to our hearts. As part of this, we will also be visiting the hospice so the children can see the tractors and even have photos taken while sitting on them—something we know brings a lot of joy.
To date, Holmfirth Charity Tractors have raised over £30,000 for various charities, and we are eager to make a meaningful difference.
*Please note that the drivers fund all their own costs which includes fuel, accommodation etc and all monies raised go directly to the charity.
