On the 7th of April 2024 I attempted to run the Brighton Marathon but 27km in I collapsed from heat stroke. I owe a great deal to St John Ambulance as they peeled me off the track, cooled me down, brought me back to consciousness and all the while keeping in excellent contact with my family who were just a few kms up the road waiting to see me. The St John team were absolutely incredible and so kind, keeping me (somewhat) talking even though I couldn't even remember where I was! They were truly awesome and despite being boggled, I knew I was completely safe with them from waking up on the side of the road to being delivered to the medical centre. I cannot express my gratitude enough so hopefully raising some money will begin in repay that debt.

I will also be running for the people who were just watching the marathon near where I went down but stood around me as a shield and held up blankets and jackets to block out the sun for me. They are heroes in my eyes and I will be eternally grateful for them as well. So even though I will never know their names or be able to thank them, I will be running with them in my mind.
