Story
Home-Start Hillingdon has helped over 2000 families since starting out 25 years ago. Ordinary people who found themselves struggling with the challenges of parenthood.
We recruit, train and oversee a team of 40 parent volunteers to deliver tailored and broad-ranging peer-to-peer support to families in need within Hillingdon Borough. Every year the HSH team come alongside 120 local families empowering them to cope better and sustain positive changes that benefit them and their children.
Demand for our work is high (and increasing) with new referrals every week. To manage this and continue our effective, highly successful life changing direct support, unrestricted funds are needed.
Award winning, quality assured training that enables more volunteers to be fully prepared comes at a cost. Training in mental health, personal safety, meeting children's needs, how and when to signpost are some of the key themes of the Volunteer Preparation course. There is also on-going training in specialist areas such as Autism and Perinatal care, along with individual supervision for all volunteers.
There is strong evidence that early intervention like ours can prevent challenges escalating. Help us to be there for children when their parents are finding things tough.
We are so grateful for all donations.
