Story
❤️ FIVE DAYS. FIVE NIGHTS. ONE COMMUNITY. ❤️
From Monday 9th to Friday 13th November 2026, Colne Open Door Centre's Charity Manager, Nick Alderson, will be giving up the comfort of his own home and spending five days and five nights living outside the charity to raise awareness of homelessness and vital funds for Open Door.
Throughout the working week, Nick will be relying on the charity for the everyday things so many of us take for granted, including food, somewhere to wash, electricity and a welcoming place to turn. Each evening, when the doors close, he'll be spending the night outside.
Nick won't be doing it alone! He'll be joined by five fantastic people who have played an important part in supporting him and the charity over the past five years. Gregg Stevenson MBE, Rachel Pickard, Shaun Grant, Patrick Macadam and Chair of Trustees Wez Evans will each be giving up a night of their own comfort to support the challenge.
While five days and five nights can never truly reflect the reality of homelessness, this challenge is about much more than sleeping outside. Every single day, Colne Open Door Centre supports local people experiencing homelessness, poverty, mental health difficulties, loneliness and financial hardship. For many, Open Door is the only place they know they can turn when life becomes overwhelming.
Every penny raised will go towards keeping those doors open and ensuring that people across our community continue to have somewhere to turn when they need it most.
Because nobody should have to face life's hardest moments alone, and everyone deserves somewhere to turn. ❤️
