On 23 May 2026, I’ll be taking on Trek26 Eryri — a 26‑mile hike across some of Wales' most rugged, beautiful, and punishing landscapes — to raise £600 for the Alzheimer’s Society. I won’t be doing it alone: I’m trekking with my best friend Fiona who shares my values, my motivation, and my belief in supporting those affected by dementia. Together, our shared goal is to raise £600 to help fund vital support and research.

While Eryri’s steep ascents, rocky trails, and unpredictable weather will test our endurance, the challenge is nothing compared to the emotional journey faced by people living with dementia and the families who walk that path alongside them. This trek is a choice for us — something we can train for, prepare for, and push through. But no one chooses dementia, and nothing can prepare families for the gradual loss of memory, independence, and connection that it brings.

Every mile we walk represents the daily struggle that people with dementia endure. Every difficult climb echoes the uphill battle faced by carers. And every step forward is a reminder of the resilience shown by those living with the condition.
