Story
In 2017, our world changed overnight when my son was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
Nothing prepares you for those words. Life became a whirlwind of scans and tests, filled with constant “what ifs.” Fear remains relentless, and every moment carries both hope and dread. Along the way, we’ve met families facing far worse outcomes, and our hearts go out to those we’ve lost. Their courage stays with us and reminds me why research is so vital.
Today, my son continues to face regular MRIs and check-ups, and our journey is far from over.
While in the UK, I came across a poster for Wear A Hat Day, one of Brain Tumour Research’s main fundraising events. I wanted to do something to help, so I brought the idea back to Gibraltar and organised the first local event and have proudly continued to run it every year since 2017. Seeing the community come together, people of all ages supporting a cause so close to my heart, was truly moving.
Through this page, we are raising funds to support community fundraising events in Gibraltar—including Wear A Hat Day, along with many other initiatives throughout the year that bring people together, raise awareness, and provide support to those affected.
It’s inspiring to see schools, businesses, community groups, and individuals get involved—some even organising their own events—showing how awareness and support are growing every year.
All proceeds go directly to Brain Tumour Research, helping to fund vital studies, improve patient care, and bring hope to families like ours. Our ultimate aim is to raise enough to support a dedicated lab at a Brain Tumour Research Centre, giving real hope for better treatments and, one day, a cure.
One in three people in the UK knows someone affected by a brain tumour. This disease can touch anyone at any age, and it takes far too many lives too soon. Brain Tumour Research is determined to change this—and together, we can help.
