YIF Charity Dinner For Lebanon and Schools' Hardship Fund · 13 December 2024

We are a non-profit organisation working to create school places for children affected by poverty. We have been implementing educational projects since 1994. Today, we have enough places for 112,006 children to gain an education across 390 schools of which 11,341 are orphaned.

Story

We are the Student Councils of Islamia Girls’ School and Brondesbury College, and we’re coming together to support a vital cause—the "School in a Bus" initiative by the READ Foundation.

Lebanon is facing a devastating humanitarian crisis. Recent conflicts have displaced over a million people, leaving countless families and children in desperate need of support. Among those affected, children are the most vulnerable, facing interruptions to their education, loss of stability, and an uncertain future.

The "School in a Bus" initiative is a beacon of hope. These mobile classrooms are designed to bring education, psychosocial support, and essential supplies directly to displaced children and their families, even in the most remote areas. By donating, you’ll help provide:

A safe and nurturing environment for children to learn.

Psychosocial support to help them process the trauma they’ve endured.

Basic necessities like school supplies and meals, giving these children a chance at a brighter future.

Why This Matters

Education is more than just learning—it’s the foundation for rebuilding lives, restoring hope, and empowering communities. With your support, we can help these children overcome their challenges and create opportunities for a better tomorrow.

Our Schools Hardship Fund

The need is urgent, not just abroad but within our own communities. Changes in government legislation mean independent schools like ours face a 20% increase in fees. To ensure this doesn’t burden families unnecessarily, a portion of the funds we raise will go towards our hardship fund, helping students to continue their excellent education and families who are most in need.

Your generosity can create a ripple effect—helping displaced children rebuild their lives and supporting families in our schools who face mounting challenges.

Every Donation Counts

Whether it’s £5 or £500, every penny goes towards equipping the buses, supporting the teachers, and ensuring children in crisis can access the education they deserve. Together, we can make a tangible difference in their lives.

Let’s show that when communities unite, we can create lasting change. Please share this page far and wide—your generosity and voice can inspire others to help too.

Thank you for standing with us.
