Six York hoteliers and their cheerleading team will be participating in the 2024 Yorkshire Marathon Relay, thus raising funds for a worthwhile local charity; SASH which aims at preventing youth homelessness in Yorkshire.

SASH is a local charity that works to prevent homelessness in young people aged 16-25 across York, North Yorkshire and East Yorkshire. They do this by providing accommodation through a network of hosts, who are ordinary families with a spare room and want to help. For many of our young people, a host family provides the supportive environment they need to begin to get things back on track.

Along with housing SASH also provides each young person with an enhanced support programme. The programme is made up of core strands; emotional resilience and wellbeing, education, employment and training. Each core strand helps to develop life skills to enable young people to live and thrive independently in the future. The service is about supporting a young person facing homelessness to build a brighter future and break the cycle of homelessness.
