Grassroots Football Tour · 7 June 2025

Former Liverpool, Bradford City and Bolton Wanderers footballer Stephen Darby and close friend and British Forces Veteran Chris Rimmer have partnered together to launch the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation. Stephen and Chris both have Motor Neurone Disease and have created a Foundation to create awareness of MND, to fund and assist research into the illness with the quest of finding a cure for the illness, to raise funds and offer grants to those with MND, as well as creating a network to help provide information and emotional support network for those diagnosed with the disease.

Story

Team Houghton Darby Stewart is taking part in The Grassroots Football Tour.

The tour will be staged on June 6-8, 2025 starting and ending at Ossett United. The route visits 21 other football grounds over a distance of 156 miles. A core team of 16 will take on the full distance with many other walkers joining along the route.

Our team of 26 (Mackems,Scousers and a few adopted Mancunians) will be joining in on Saturday 7th June, for the Atherton Colleries to Altrinham Football Club (approx 20 miles).

All the money donated in this way goes directly to the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation, a foundation that you all know is so close to our heart!
