Story
As a serving member of the Royal Air Force Regiment, I’ve seen first-hand the dedication, sacrifice, and resilience that define our Armed Forces community.
But I’ve also seen how that strength can sometimes mask unseen struggles — physical, mental, and emotional. That’s why I’m taking on this challenge in support of SSAFA, the Armed Forces Charity, to give something back to those who’ve given so much.
The Challenge
Starting at the summit of Ben Nevis, Scotland’s highest peak, I’ll be hiking all the way to Snowdon in Wales — a journey of over 500 miles. I’ll be wild camping each night, living out of my pack, and surviving on ration packs, with the goal of completing the trek in just 20 days.
It’s a test of endurance, mental grit, and determination.
Why SSAFA
SSAFA has been supporting our Armed Forces community since 1885, offering practical, emotional, and financial assistance to serving personnel, veterans, and their families.
Whether it’s helping someone adjust to life after service, supporting families through hardship, or being there in moments of crisis, SSAFA makes a real difference when it matters most.
As someone still serving, I know how vital it is to have that support network in place — not just for those on the front line, but for every individual and family who wears, or has worn, the uniform with pride.
Why I’m Doing This
This fundraiser is my way of showing solidarity and appreciation for those who’ve served before me, those serving now, and those who will serve in the future.
Every step of this journey represents the strength, resilience, and unity of our Armed Forces family. It’s going to be tough — 500 miles across rugged terrain, unpredictable weather, and long days on the move.
How You Can Help
Your donation, no matter how small, will go directly towards helping SSAFA continue their vital work supporting veterans, serving personnel, and military families in need.
Together, we can make sure no one in our Armed Forces community is left behind.
