Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

For my husband Steve who passed away on April 11th, on his 50th birthday. He had been out running near where we live when he suffered from chest pain. Passers-by tried to perform CPR on him and so did the paramedics who arrived with him within 5 minutes. Unfortunately they couldn’t save him.

The police called me in work to inform me that Steve had been taken ill. It wasn’t until I reached his location that I found out he’d already passed on. He had been placed on the bed in the ambulance. His eyes were closed and he looked so peaceful, like he was sleeping.

He had been suffering from progressive heart failure following emergency stent surgery back in 2011. Since then, he did everything he could to improve his health, giving up smoking and taking up running etc. Unfortunately, despite his best efforts, his very nasty heart condition eventually caught up with him.

I'm setting up this fundraising page as a 'thank you' to the British Heart Foundation, who I never forget took such great care of Steve on their rehab programme all those years ago. His life, though tragically cut short, was lived it to the full and I have many happy memories from our nearly 25 years of marriage.

I'm thanking you all for taking the time to read this. If you are able to make a donation on this page, I will be forever thankful, it would have meant a lot to Steve xox
