Story

The Great Big Huckle (& Nother!) Challenge

Last September, we were all more than a little shocked when Sarah was diagnosed with breast cancer, leading to what has undoubtedly been the biggest challenge of her life. Yet (as anyone who knows her can attest to!), Sarah has risen to that challenge with an immense amount of bravery and positivity, together with an unbelievable amount of good humour.

Now, the rest of the family have decided to show our love and support by taking on a (very different) challenge of our own.

On Sunday 3rd November, marathon first-timers Rob and Ben will be running the full 26.2 miles from Nice to Cannes, while Alan and Lucy tackle the half marathon on the same morning.

Having seen first-hand the amazing work of charities involved in cancer care, we’ve decided we would like to do some fundraising of our own to support those who have supported us.

Sarah’s chosen charity is Maggie’s, who offer amazing support to cancer patients and their families across a network of centres built beside NHS hospitals across the country. We’ll be proudly wearing Maggie’s orange vests as we run, so, when the going gets tough, a quick look down will remind us why we’re doing this, and will hopefully spur us on! You can read more about Maggie’s, and the wonderful work they do, at maggies.org

We will be covering all the costs of the weekend ourselves, so every pound we raise will go straight to Maggie’s. As the saying goes: please give generously!

Thank you for your generosity and support, and don’t forget to Gift Aid if you can.

With appreciation,

Alan, Rob, Lucy and Ben xxx
