Story
Hi everyone,
On 12 April 2026, I’ll be taking on the London Landmarks Half Marathon, It’s been a challenge I’ve been working toward for months — early mornings, long runs, aching legs, and a lot of determination. I’ve genuinely had to commit myself to the training, and now the big day is finally getting close.
I’m running in support of Coram, the UK’s oldest children’s charity, whose work gives vulnerable young people the stability, safety, and opportunities every child deserves.
Coram has been championing children for over 280 years. They support young people who face incredibly tough circumstances — from navigating the care system to accessing education and legal protection. Their work helps children:
Find safe, loving, permanent homes.
Receive emotional and practical support when they feel alone.
Understand and defend their rights.
Build confidence and a brighter future.
It’s a charity that quietly but powerfully changes lives.
Why I’m Taking This On:
Training for a half marathon has pushed me in ways I didn’t expect. But every time I’ve wanted to skip a run or slow down, I’ve reminded myself that this effort is nothing compared to the challenges many children face daily. If my miles can help even a little, then every step is worth it.
If You’d Like to Support:
There’s absolutely no pressure to donate — your encouragement alone means a lot. But if you would like to support Coram’s work, any contribution, big or small, will help them continue standing up for children who need it most.
Hugh
