Freddie's Summer Walking Challenge

Deana Wilkinson is raising money for The Lyttelton Well Ltd

Walking 100 miles in 3 months

We support over 100 volunteers serving in our community cafe, as well as partnering with local organisations in our hub and improving access to affordable mental health support. We represent a wide range of churches working together in Malvern eager to make a positive contribution to the town.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit Freddie's JustGiving page.

Why is Freddie doing this? It's quite simple really. He has a long summer ahead of him and wants to do something useful with all that spare time.

Most of you will know that Freddie loves to be active and doesn't let his disabilities get in the way. He also loves being part of the local community and enjoys finding ways to give something back. Since last year Freddie has been lucky enough to be given the chance to volunteer at a local charity café which helps to fund various support services and networks, as well as a place to meet. The kindness, friendship and support that he has received there has helped Freddie's confidence and abilities grow so much and he's developed a real sense of purpose. So when Freddie wanted to set himself a physical challenge, it was an easy decision to incorporate that with a chance to raise some much needed money for The Well at the same time!

Freddie's Summer Walking Challenge is to walk 100 miles in 3 months, from 1st June to 31st August. He's already made a start, but it will be through combinations of things like parkwalking at parkrun each Saturday, day trips to places like Croome Court, litter picking and of course, walking our beautiful Malvern Hills. So no easy challenge! Oh and in addition to this, Freddie will be taking part in his first ever 10K at the Worcester City Run on 13th September, so he's hoping this will get him race-ready!

Before moving on, we'd like to give you a bit more information about The Well.

The Lyttleton Well (known locally as The Well) is a Christian community hub in the heart of Malvern., working alongside local churches to serve and support people of all ages and backgrounds. Through their welcoming café and bookshop, weekly interest groups, affordable counselling and chaplaincy service, they provide a place where people can find connection, encouragement and someone to listen. Volunteering at The Well offers opportunities for people to build confidence, develop skills, discover purpose and become part of a supportive community. This is especially meaningful for young people, adults with additional needs and older adults looking for friendship and connection.
