Story

I'm running in The Great North Run again this year, raising money for Spinal Research. I'm doing this because my brother-in-law, Angus, had an infection of the spinal cord at the beginning of 2024 requiring emergency spinal surgery. This was followed by 4 months recuperating in hospital, mostly at the Royal Princess Spinal Cord Injuries Centre in Sheffield. After more than 2 years on he is making a good recovery but still has some issues associated with what happened.

This will be my 14th Great North Run in the last 17 years so please support me if you can!

There are an estimated 105,000 people in the UK with a Spinal Cord Injury. Living with an SCI often means a lifetime of health and care costs, as well as the threat of secondary healthcare complications.

Spinal Research is the UK's leading medical charity focused on the repair and restoration of the spinal cord, and we exist to beat paralysis.

Spinal Research do not receive governmental funding; all projects are funded by donations.

With your help, we can #CureParalysis.
