HWBOD's fundraiser for Jac Lewis Foundation

Ben Rose-Miles is raising money for Jac Lewis Foundation

24 hour deadlift - Max Tonnage · 11 July 2026

To provide a preventative wellbeing and mental health service across Wales, managed by professionally qualified counsellors and wellbeing advisors.

Story

This June is Men's Mental Health Month, and on the 10th and 11th of July we're doing something about it.

Last year, 17.6 men in every 100,000 died by suicide in England and Wales. It's now the leading cause of death for men under 50. Behind every one of those numbers is a bloke who carried the pressure to provide and the pressure to "be a man" until he couldn't anymore, and a family, kids and mates left carrying it after him.

So we're putting that weight on the bar. For 24 hours straight, from 6pm Friday to 6pm Saturday, our whole community is going to deadlift 1,760,000kg between us. Two bars, men's and women's, never stopping. One kg for every 17.6 men in 100,000 we lose to this every year.

Every penny goes to the Jac Lewis Foundation. They were built by the Ammanford community in 2019 after the sudden loss of Jac, and they now provide free mental health and wellbeing support right across Wales. Counselling, workshops, and somewhere to turn for anyone struggling, with no waiting lists and no barriers. It's support on our own doorstep, and it saves lives.

If you can give anything at all, it goes straight to keeping that support there for the next person who needs it. And if you're local, come down on the 10th and put some weight on the bar with us.

It's okay to talk. Diolch.
