Box Step Challenge · 8 September 2023

We are a social justice and harm reduction charity whose purpose is to inspire and empower people to live healthier and safer lives. Our skilled and compassionate teams have been working with individuals, families and communities, helping them to make positive changes since 1969.

Story

Rita’s Rescue are taking on a mammoth box step challenge to fundraise for Cranstoun's Here4YOUth service in Worcestershire! Our aim is to complete 15,000 box steps up at a 20inch height to ascend the height of Mount Everest in 24 hours.

This funding will support Cranstoun's work with children affected by parental alcohol/drug use. If we reach our target, the Here4YOU team in Worcestershire will be trained in Drawing & Talking, a therapeutic intervention which supports children to express their emotions through drawing, gives them tools to control their behaviour, builds self-esteem, and empowers them to thrive in the world around them.

Rita’s Rescue - Our Mission

Rita's rescue was formed to identify and help all those affected by alcohol dependency. From the person with the addiction themselves, to their partners and children, we strive to reduce harm and build support.

We take a 360° approach to enable people to see opportunity and purpose outside of addiction, to show them that the path they see laid before them isn't the only one.

We do this by fundraising to support local charities with expertise in substance abuse and addiction services. Our contribution enables these charities to maximise their impact on the ground by plugging funding gaps and facilitating innovation by frontline support workers.

We actively engage with the charities we support and, as we deepen our knowledge in the sector, we will share our experience as well as funds to help shape the services provided and reach those most in need of rescue
