Story

Following the unbelievable and simply mind-blowing success of the inaugural ‘Live Forever Cup’ that we held in Brisbane (Aus) in 2021 it was almost inevitable we would follow it up somewhere someday when the time was right Well, it is with great pride and sincerity that I can confirm that time is now.

After a few weeks of planning and background work from so many great people (thank you to each and every one of you), I am delighted that I can officially announce our upcoming charity event – ‘Live Forever Cup 2’ where an Newcastle United XI will take on a Barcelona XI in a #charity #football match at 11.30am on 21st September 2025 at Benfield Newcastle FC in Walkergate, Newcastle upon Tyne (UK).

As with the Live Forever Cup 1, the main objective of the event is to help continue the endless pursuit of #cancerawareness (and important reminder that #earlydetectionsaveslives) by supporting three cancer charities that are close to our hearts (despite being on opposite sides of the globe).

All proceeds will be split evenly between the #sirbobbyrobsonfoundation and #stbendictshospice in the #uk and #materchicksinpink in #australia.

What makes this event even more unique and special, is that we will be celebrating the lives and legacies of our lost loved ones. All equally precious and greatly missed. They may not be here in person but in our hearts they certainly ‘Live Forever’.

Those familiar with Live Forever Cup 1 will notice we had added a third charity which is deeply personal to fellow organiser and Barcelona manager - Ricardo Sanjuan - in honour of the care the great people at St Benedict's afforded his much-loved and sorely missed brother, Carlos, who we sadly lost little over a year ago and huge source of inspirations behind the location and format of the Live Forever Cup 2.

Goes without saying, the addition of a third charity in no way diminishes how important special the original charities are to those involved and, most importantly, to those that we are remembering. And that will never change. In fact we strongly believe it only enhances with this special addition. We have landed on the perfect mix and can't wait to do our very best to maximise awareness and funds for these very special causes. It is an honour to represent you and the work you all do.

The world is a small place when good people come together.

Thanks in advance for your support.

Please note: This Just Giving Fundraising Page is purely to support the #stbendictshospice - there are separate fundraising page for #sirbobbyrobsonfoundation and #materchicksinpink. All funds will be split evenly shortly after the event takes place.

Thanks again

Iain (on behalf of Ricardo and the Sanjuan family)
