Story
In 2023 I raised money for Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS) by doing the Brighton Marathon. I chose KSS due to my own experience being airlifted following a serious RTC in Birmingham in 2018.
This year I want to do more and so have set myself 12 challenges, one per month;
January - KSS's Run 31. Me and my family will run 31 miles during January, I am aiming for 3x that so 186 miles as a Family.
February - Goodwood Half Marathon. I have run a few Half-Marathon's since my April 2023 Marathon to keep training and will run 4x Half-Marathon's this year with the aim of setting a new PB (currently 1:37:23) twice.
March - Swim the Channel (Distance). I will swim 1416 lengths of a local 25m Pool over the course of March which equates to 22m, the distance of the channel swim. This challenge is normally set for people to do over 3 months.
April - I will do a long hike (~40m) in a single day with my Partner Sammy somewhere within the South Downs. We will fit in as many miles as light allows.
May - Battersea Park Half-Marathon.
June - Golf. I will attempt playing 100 holes within a day during one of the longest days of the year. This is 5 rounds and 10 holes, 28 holes more than the usual 72 hole 'Longest Day' challenge.
July - 3 Peaks. Me and a group of friends will undertake the 3 Peaks challenge, climbing the tallest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales within a 24-hour window.
August - Mt. Triglav, Slovenia. My Partner and I are travelling to Slovenia to climb Mt. Triglav which is 2863m high (more than 2x Ben Nevis).
September - Cycle IOW. I will cycle around the IOW (~68m) in a day.
October - Goodwood Half-Marathon.
November - Movember (or I may include another physical challenge - watch this space)
December - Goodwood Half-Marathon.
Whilst some of these challenges are well within my reach during a normal month, I hope you'll agree committing to a monthly schedule + undertaking some new and very challenging events amounts to a packed year of worthy fundraising.
KSS is an independent charity. It costs over £16.6M a year to sustain their world-leading, cutting edge, innovative service and amazingly 87% is donated and raised by the people of Kent, Surrey and Sussex.
Your donation means KSS can continue to provide the best care at the worst of times for their patients, and stay at the forefront of pre-hospital critical care.
