Story
On Sunday 24th May 2026, I’ll be swapping my uniform for running shoes and taking on the Edinburgh Marathon — 26.2 miles of sheer determination (and probably a few questionable life choices).
As a serving member of the Royal Navy, I’ve seen firsthand the amazing work the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) does for our community. They provide support for sailors, marines, veterans, and their families through thick and thin. Whether it’s during deployment, transition, or tough times at home, the RNRMC is always there to keep morale afloat.
So, I’m setting sail on this marathon mission with a target of £600 to help them keep doing what they do best. Every donation will make a real difference and every pound will help keep me powering through when my legs are ready to mutiny around mile 20!
Training’s already underway from zone 2 runs, long runs, inner dialogue battles and enough protein bars to sink a small ship. I’ll be giving it everything I’ve got to cross that finish line, knowing it’s all for a cause close to my heart.
So please, if you can, help me hit my fundraising target and keep the RNRMC sailing strong. Your support means the world — and might just stop me from going overboard on race day!
Fair winds, following seas, and hopefully no blisters,
Iain ‘Whisky’ Walker ⚓
