Story
Between April 1st and October 28th we are going to attempt to cycle 3980km. But for a nice round number we will round it up to 4000km!
A bit of background on us. Both myself and Ryan are rugby players for Cooke RFC in Belfast, with the rugby world cup being in France later this year, we thought it would be an interesting challenge to try and cycle the equivalent distance as if you were travelling from Belfast to each of the rugby world cup venues in France, finishing our journey in Paris on the 28th October in time for the world cup final.
We are set to start this challenge on April 1st which means both of us will need to cycle 20km a day, every day for 210 consecutive days!
This may seem like a long time to do this challenge and yes, while in a perfect world we would love to drop everything and make the actual journey and try to smash it out in a month/6weeks, we both have families and fulltime jobs; so we will be attempting to cover the equivalent distance cycling in any way we can, at any time we can! This could be static cycling, trips in and around Northern Ireland, the occasional trip away for a cycling weekend, 5am cycles, lunch hour cycles, evening cycles.
Our Journey will virtually follow this route:
Starting Point: Cooke RFC, Belfast
Leg 1: Cooke to Aviva Stadium, Dublin
Leg 2: Aviva Stadium to Holyhead, Wales
Leg 3: Holyhead to Twickenham Stadium, London
Leg 4: London to Calais, France
Leg 5: Calais to Stade Pierre Mauroy, Lille
Leg 6: Lille to OL Stadium, Lyon
Leg 7: Lyon to Geoffroy Stadium, Saint-Étienne
Leg 8: Saint-Étienne to Stade de Nice, Nice
Leg 9: Nice to Stade Vélodrome, Marseille
Leg 10: Marseille to Stadium de Toulouse, Toulouse
Leg 11: Toulouse to Stade de Bordeaux, Bordeaux
Leg 12: Bordeaux to Stade de la Beaujoire, Nantes
Final leg: Nantes to Stade de France, Paris
My family has been directly affected by MS which is why we have chosen to raise money for this extremely worthy Charity.
We will post progress updates as we go.
So from both Ryan and myself, Thank you for any an all donations that we may raise.
Ian and Ryan.
