Story
For my Mum. and for St. Giles Hospice Lichfield. I will walk the final journey taken by my Mum to the Hospice on the Anniversary of her death.
> Raising funds for St. Giles. Hospice £500
Jackie Anderson, my Mum, never smoked, was fit and healthy and enjoyed life until June 2022 when at the age of 75 she was diagnosed with an aggressive lung cancer, and a secondary brain tumour. The cancer that would see her life ended on 23 January 2023.
> The hardest thing.
For anyone who has ever gone through the breavement of a loved one - I don't need to tell you how hard it is. My Dad cared for my Mum during her illness, but he struggled. She became so ill in the end that it was impossible to care for her at home. Understandably, it was the hardest thing he ever had to do. But without St. Giles Hospice - so much harder.
> You can't underestimate what it means.
Were it not for St. Giles Hospice, I could have lost two parents. They took caring responsibilities from my Dad, made my Mum comfortable, gave her the very best of care, and allowed him to be a husband in the final weeks of her life.
> They do it with donations.
The nurses and doctors are amazing. But the cost of care is high and it's all funded by donation. And whilst no one ever hopes to need Hospice care - we are all grateful when we do.
Jackie Anderson died on the 23 January 2023 at 15:45 surrounded by family. I'm raising the money in her name, but for the continuing care of others. I appreciate that times are hard right now but if you have any spare pennies, please give what you can.
